The GBTA Business Traveler Sentiment Index™ Global Report — January 2017 uncovers trends in business travel, including business travelers’ preferences while on the road. From ride-sharing services to travel policies, the report outlines what’s important to business travelers and offers insights into how companies can better support their employees during work trips.

The full report is available to download; among the key findings are:

  • Ride-sharing services, such as Uber and Lyft, are gaining acceptance, as now included in one-half (50%) of corporate travel policies worldwide.
  • Millennials are the generation most likely to exercise on the road, with 46% working out every or almost every trip, compared to 41% of GenXers and 38% of Boomers.
  • Social networking sites are used at least once a day by more than one-half (54%) of business travelers, with those in Hong Kong (81%) and Mexico (79%) being the most likely to use social media during work trips.
  • Two-thirds (67%) of business travelers say their company cares about their well-being while on the road, with employees in Germany and the United States (both, 79%) feeling the most cared for by employers.

The GBTA Business Traveler Sentiment Index™ Global Report — January 2017, in partnership with American Express, aims to understand how business travelers feel about their travel experiences and how those feelings affect their travel behaviors. The results of this edition of the research are based on an online survey conducted by the GBTA Foundation from September 6 to 26, 2016. The survey polled 3,220 full-time and part-time employees in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States who traveled for business at least four times in the previous 12 months.
