The ninth annual American Express/CFO Research Global Business and Spending Monitor* explores how senior finance leaders judge the health of the economy in their own geographies and how they plan to strengthen their businesses in the coming year. This year’s report reveals a great deal of variability in expectations for individual economies, but at each of the regional levels optimism remains relatively high. Even as executives are more guarded in their outlook they remain committed to progress for their companies, finely balancing the competing priorities of investing for growth and shielding their organizations from risk.

*The American Express/CFO Research Global Business and Spending Monitor 2016 survey results are based on 651 respondents from companies with revenues of $500M to over $20B in: 30% Asia/Australia, 34% Europe, 21% North America, and 16% Latin America
