This American Express infographic highlights the current trends in the U.S. middle market, including their hiring patterns and an increased focus on data protection. Middle market firms indicate they desire automation of the accounts payable process to reduce manual invoicing and streamline processes. These companies are using electronic payment solutions and business charge and credit cards to manage expenses and are benefitting by streamlining accounts payables and receivables, easier tracking of business spending and accumulating rewards.

The data below comes from the annual American Express® Survey of Mid-sized Companies. Research for the American Express® Survey of Mid-sized Companies was conducted by Ebiquity online from June 29 to July 7, 2015 with a sample of 501 financial decision makers from U.S. middle market companies, defined as having revenues of $10 million to $1 billion annually. Results have a margin of error of +/- 4.4% at the 95% level of confidence. A separate survey was conducted in Canada and Mexico.
